U20 in 2026
The cities of Los Angeles and New York served as the 2026 Urban 20 (U20) Co-Chairs, following a handover from the 2025 South African Presidency, co-chaired by Johannesburg and Tshwane.
Through a series of virtual and in-person events leading up to the U20 Mayors Summit, U20 Participating Cities collaborated with invited Observer and Guest cities and partner organisations to identify shared priorities, advocacy asks and opportunities for action on some of the world’s most pressing challenges. They then leveraged their united urban voice to engage with G20 national governments.
The 2026 cycle was organised around three key priorities, agreed upon by all U20 Participating Cities:
- Affordable Housing and Homelessness
- Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resilience
- Migration and Human Mobility
