More than 30 global cities meet in Buenos Aires to discuss recommendations to the G20

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2018

During the First Urban 20 Mayors Summit cities will discuss their recommendations on climate action, future of work, social integration, women empowerment and access to financing.

The City of Buenos Aires will host 34 mayors and representatives from global cities as part of the First Urban 20 Mayors Summit. Urban 20 is a city diplomacy initiative co-chaired by Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Mayor of Buenos Aires, and Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, that creates a platform for major cities in G20 countries to formulate recommendations and bring their urban perspective to the G20.

The First Urban 20 Mayor’s Summit will be held in Buenos Aires, October 29th-30th.The initiative is convened by C40 Cities, in collaboration with United Cities and Local Governments.

International Speakers of the First Urban Mayor’s Summit include prestigious Chilean architect and Pritzker Prize winner Alejandro Aravena; writer, editor and feminist activist OluTimehin Adegbeye; Ivo Daadler, President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and Aromar Revi, Director of the Indian Institute for Human Settlements.

During the First Urban 20 Mayor’s Summit mayors and city officials will discuss their recommendations in five priority areas: climate action, the future of work, social integration, women empowerment and access to financing. On Tuesday the 30th, mayors will deliver their recommendations to Argentine President Mauricio Macri at Buenos Aires City Hall.
